John Lavan
John Lavan has been actively writing poetry for the past 10 years. Many of his poems are inspired by family relationships – and particularly a precious relationship with his first son Andrew, who has Down’s syndrome.
He has won prizes in UK poetry competitions and been published in various US magazines and anthologies. John is a significant blogger with around 1,000 hits a day on his blog realpoems.org. He aims to write a poem every day.
A Yorkshire man, John believes that poetry connects with feeling and pushes out the wings of perception such that, after reading a good poem, we think and feel somewhat differently.
He works as a management consultant, travelling extensively in the UK and living in Yorkshire and Cumbria.
